United Therapeutics Lungs and Heart Logo 3D Print

While I was learning general IT skills and producing video training tutorials for United Therapeutics during my 2017 internship, I learned they had a 3D printer on site. At the time 3D printers were pretty rare so I wanted to see if I could model something and successfully print it; so I asked what extension type they need the 3D model file to be for their printer to spit it out and they told me ".obj".

I modeled the United Therapeutics Logo in Autodesk 3Ds Max and exported it to .obj and after a couple topologically sketchy prototypes I eventually had a handful of great models for the logo on a stand as well as in a "coin" form. It was incredibly fun and fulfilling using my 3D modelling skills to create blueprints for something from scratch and then see it be printed straight into the real world!

These display stands and coins are Limited Edition; only a few of them exist in the world, some on the desks of a few very lucky individuals - they may be worth a pretty penny someday!
